Dead Poet Society have announced their third studio album ‘Monarch’, with the alt-rock outfit also unveiling a new music video for the record’s latest single “Cold.”
The track marks the third preview to arrive from the upcoming album, with the accompanying visual directed by the band’s own vocalist/guitarist Jack Underkofler alongside Blackwolf Imaging. Discussing the song’s meaning, drummer Will Goodroad explained:
“People today are constantly performing for one another, competing for a place in social hierarchy. We slowly reshape ourselves, cutting away parts of who we are to gain acceptance and validation. Over time, we lose touch with our passions, forget why we do what we do, and stop recognizing who we really are – or what we truly believe, if anything at all. ‘Cold’ is about recognizing that reality and choosing to indulge in it anyway.”
Recording for ‘Monarch’ was handled under the guidance of Mutemath vocalist Paul Meany, while GRAMMY Award-winning engineer Adam Hawkins (Turnstile, YUNGBLUD) took care of the mix.
Speaking about the creative direction behind the album, Underkofler added:
“We wanted to carve out our own piece of territory. I just wanted to swing for the fences with this one. All the things I felt made us, I wanted to see how much deeper I could go with them and try to boil down the essence of the feeling that makes Dead Poet Society who we are.”
The band have also launched an interactive fan experience dubbed The House, allowing listeners to uncover clues and explore additional content connected to the album campaign.
‘Monarch’ will arrive on October 02nd through Spinefarm and features the following track listing:

Pre-orders are available now, with the band also preparing to hit the road this fall on a North American co-headlining tour with Honey Revenge, featuring Hunny and Broadside on select dates.
