Polish death/groove metal heavyweights Decapitated took influence from an unexpected source when crafting their fan-favorite track “Spheres Of Madness.” Originally released on the band’s 2002 sophomore album, Nihility, the song has since become their third most-streamed track online.
During a recent appearance on the Garza Podcast, guitarist Wacław “Vogg” Kiełtyka revealed that the song’s distinctive whammy bar work was inspired by none other than Limp Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland.
Showing off the song’s riff to host Chris Garza (Suicide Silence, etc.), Vogg explained:
“I made the song in one day… maybe just two hours—the whole song.”
He then pointed out the whammy bar section, adding:
“You will never guess where I got the inspiration for that: Limp Bizkit.”
Clarifying his stance, he continued:
“I’m not inspired by Limp Bizkit, but this whammy bar… it sounds so powerful, you know? It’s a cool trick.”
While the connection may come as a surprise, it’s a testament to Borland’s innovative playing style and its impact beyond the nu-metal world.
