Dieth have entered a new era with former Megadeth bassist David Ellefson no longer part of the death/thrash metal outfit.
The band have announced Swedish bassist Tobias Cristiansson as Ellefson’s replacement, bringing the Grave, Necrophobic and former Dismember member into the lineup.
The lineup change arrives alongside Dieth signing with Fireflash Records and preparing to release their first new material since their 2023 debut album ‘To Hell And Back’. The band’s new single, “Pound Of Flesh,” will arrive on October 16 alongside an accompanying music video.
Vocalist and guitarist Guilherme Miranda described the new chapter as a major step forward for the band.
“This feels like the right home for us, as they share our vision of where we can take the band. We’ve poured our heart and soul into this new music, and I honestly couldn’t be more excited about what we have in store. New line-up, new music, new album – this is just the beginning.”
Cristiansson’s addition gives Dieth a bassist with a long history in the Swedish death metal scene, having performed with Grave and Necrophobic, in addition to his previous stint with Dismember.
Miranda also welcomed his longtime friend into the group.
“It’s a pleasure to welcome my longtime friend Tobias to DIETH. His history speaks for itself, and he fits perfectly with what we’re building. I’m beyond happy and honoured to have him with us for this new chapter.”
The band will introduce the new lineup with “Pound Of Flesh,” which Miranda describes as one of Dieth’s most brutal songs to date.
“‘Pound of Flesh’ is brutal, and that’s exactly what I wanted this song to be. Musically and lyrically, it’s one of my favourite things we’ve done. I’m very excited because it’s a new chapter for DIETH. I really can’t wait for you guys to hear and see what we’ve been working on!”
The track will serve as the first preview of Dieth’s forthcoming second studio album, which is also expected to feature a new video and further material from the revamped lineup.

Ellefson has not publicly commented on his departure from the band at this time.
