Blake Mullens, vocalist and guitarist for deathcore juggernaut Disembodied Tyrant, has been seriously injured in what’s being described as a “freak accident.” While the band has chosen not to share details surrounding the incident, it’s confirmed that Mullens required emergency hospitalization and surgery, and is now facing a lengthy recovery process.
In a statement shared by the band on November 9th, they explained:
“On Monday the 3rd, Blake was involved in a freak accident that resulted in significant injuries to multiple limbs, requiring emergency hospitalization and surgery. He is okay, but there will be no more details given in relation to the incident out of respect for his family.
Due to this event and the lengthy recovery process involved, he is unfit to perform on DT’s upcoming US tour with Whitechapel. He is expected to recover in time for the band’s next tour in March.
He does not want the band to lose momentum or opportunities, so the tour will proceed as planned with @trevorteichert and @rynovail stepping in on vocals. The rest of the band will see you there with Whitechapel, Bodysnatcher, and AngelMaker.”
To ensure the upcoming tour continues as planned, Trevor Teichert of Winter’s Gate and Ryan Vail of LarcɆnia RoɆ and Synestia will be handling vocal duties for the run. The tour will see Whitechapel performing their latest record Hymns In Dissonance in full each night, alongside Bodysnatcher, AngelMaker, and Disembodied Tyrant.
