Dan Donegan Confirms DISTURBED Will Take Extended Break in 2026

After a monumental year celebrating the 25th anniversary of their 5x multi-platinum debut album The Sickness, Disturbed are planning a significant hiatus in 2026. Guitarist Dan Donegan addressed the band’s plans during an Instagram Live session on October 31st, explaining that the group will be taking time off following the conclusion of their European and UK anniversary tour.

Donegan shared:

“We are done [playing shows for now]. We are done with ‘The Sickness,’ done with the anniversary tour. [We’ll be] home for the rest of the year, and probably gonna take quite a bit of time off next year. So no discussions of doing anything else. We just feel like we could use a break. It’s been a pretty strong run earlier this year… we just feel we could enjoy some time home.”

He also acknowledged the personal challenges the band members have faced while on tour, including the loss of family members:

“We’ve got a lot of stuff going on in our personal lives… Unfortunately, a handful of us had some relatives pass away while we were in Europe. So I had an uncle pass away last week. My guitar tech had his father and a cousin, a week apart from each other, both passed away. So those are the things that happen when you live life on tour and on the road.”

The hiatus comes after a year marked not only by the anniversary celebrations but also by controversy surrounding frontman David Draiman’s outspoken political views, including his support for Israel during the Israel-Gaza conflict and the signing of an artillery shell during a visit with the Israel Defense Force. While Draiman has received support from some fans, the band has also faced backlash, including audience protests, show cancellations, and public disputes with various figures, like Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong, and actor John Cusack.

Donegan’s statement underscores that, after a challenging and eventful year, Disturbed are prioritizing rest and time with family before resuming activity in the future.
