Dope Earn First-Ever Gold Single In The United States With “Die MF Die”

Dope have officially scored their first RIAA gold certification in the United States.

The industrial nü-metal band earned the milestone for “Die MF Die,” a fan-favorite track taken from their 2001 sophomore album Life. The RIAA announced the certification on April 20th.

Despite never being issued as an official single during its original release cycle, “Die MF Die” became one of the group’s signature songs over time, gaining a lasting following through live performances, word of mouth, and continued streaming success.

The certification marks a notable career achievement for frontman Edsel Dope, who has also remained active in recent years through his involvement with Static-X.

In the United States, gold certification represents 500,000 units moved, with totals now factoring in a combination of sales, downloads, and streaming equivalents.

More than two decades after Life first arrived, the song’s new status underscores the staying power of early 2000s industrial and nü-metal staples in the streaming era.
