Post-skramz outfit Dreamwell have premiered a music video for their latest single, “Carrion Birds On The Ark”, offering another unsettling preview of their upcoming album, ‘Hymns For The Denial Of God’.
The video, which debuted online on July 28th, was directed by former Stray From The Path bassist/vocalist Anthony Altamura, who previously collaborated with the band on earlier visual releases.
Lyrically, the song takes aim at the darker side of organized religion, specifically addressing the longstanding issue of abuse and institutional protection within churches. Vocalist Keziah “KZ” Staska explained the inspiration behind the track, stating:
“It criticizes the long-running history of predation in the church. It doesn’t make sense that God would let these people shuffle from church to church with their misdoings simply buried by the organization. Carrion birds loom and wait for vulnerable prey to expire in a safe haven. The metaphor reflective of priests who wait for the opportunity to strike.”
The band’s forthcoming album, ‘Hymns For The Denial Of God’, is scheduled for release on August 28th via Prosthetic Records.
With “Carrion Birds On The Ark”, Dreamwell continue to explore challenging subject matter through their emotionally charged blend of screamo, post-hardcore, and experimental heaviness, delivering one of the most confrontational tracks yet from the upcoming record.
