Droneflower, the collaborative project featuring Stephen Brodsky of Cave In and Mutoid Man alongside singer-songwriter Marissa Nadler, have marked this month’s Bandcamp Friday with the release of two new tracks.
The duo have shared “Sky Burial” and “Drive It In”, both of which are now available through Bandcamp as part of the project’s latest offering.
Brodsky took to social media to introduce the new material, revealing that “Drive It In” was originally written for a scrapped Buffy The Vampire Slayer reboot.
“Here’s new DRONEFLOWER for the first @bandcamp Friday of spooky season… head there to hear ‘Sky Burial’ (pretty self explanatory) and ‘Drive It In’ (written for a nixed Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot).”
The new releases also feature keys and harp from SFX Maven, while J2H handled the mixing. Nadler additionally contributed the artwork for the release.
Brodsky also used the occasion to point listeners back toward Droneflower’s existing catalog, encouraging fans to revisit the project’s previous album and EP releases through Sacred Bones Records.
The new tracks follow Droneflower’s ongoing collaboration between two distinct voices in experimental and alternative music, with Brodsky’s work across Cave In and Mutoid Man providing a different backdrop for Nadler’s atmospheric songwriting.
