Following reports that their planned South American run had been scrapped, Drowning Pool have now offered further context regarding the cancellation of their seven-date tour.
Earlier in the week, organizers reportedly cited low ticket sales as the reason for the tour being called off. While the band have not directly addressed those claims in a formal statement, comments made in a recent interview suggest the situation may have been tied more closely to scheduling and logistical complications.
Speaking with Teaser Talk shortly before the cancellation became public, guitarist C.J. Pierce explained that the run had been in motion but ultimately fell apart due to timing constraints and coordination issues.
“We were going to be doing South America. That just got put on hold… I was looking forward to going.”
He added that the tour was affected by administrative hurdles and timing delays that made it difficult to proceed as planned.
“Just the timing with it all… the logistics weren’t put together for us to get there in time. There’s a lot of, you know, again, red tape and stuff like that because we didn’t meet the deadline for it.”
Despite the setback, Pierce expressed hope that the routing could be revisited later in the year.
“I’m hoping that that comes back up towards the end of the year.”
Vocalist Ryan McCombs also reflected on the cancellation, noting that the band had been particularly excited about reaching new territories they had not previously performed in.
“We’re definitely pushing towards making it happen… it’s very rare that you see something come up on your calendar that you haven’t done before.”
He added that several of the countries on the proposed run would have marked first-time appearances for him personally.
“There was several countries there that we had never — I know I’d never been to before. So I was really looking forward to that.”
Pierce closed by reiterating the band’s desire to eventually make the trip happen.
“Sorry, South America, we’re trying to get there.”
While the South American dates are no longer moving forward for now, the band’s comments suggest the possibility of revisiting the region at a later point remains open.
