End It’s Facebook Disappears As Escuela Grind & Others Rally Behind Banana Man

The fallout surrounding End It and the now-infamous “banana man” incident continues to escalate. As of press time, the Baltimore hardcore band’s official Facebook page appears to have been taken offline, with the previously active URL, facebook.com/EndItBCHC, now displaying a “content unavailable” message. The band’s Instagram account remains active, and the group have yet to publicly address either the removal of the page or the controversy itself.

The incident that sparked the backlash occurred during a recent performance in Toronto, ON, where vocalist Akil Godsey singled out an audience member wearing a banana costume while the band was opening for Terror and others. During the set, Godsey offered the night’s setlist as a reward to anyone willing to tear apart the fan’s costume. Multiple concertgoers quickly acted on the request, leaving the fan’s outfit shredded.

The fan later shared his side of the story on social media, explaining that he had attended shows in banana costumes for years and had never previously experienced that kind of hostility at the direction of a band. Since then, the incident has generated widespread discussion throughout hardcore circles online, with opinions ranging from criticism of the band’s actions to defenses of the crowd’s behavior.

Questions surrounding End It’s immediate future intensified further on June 9 when the band was noticeably absent from the announcement of a previously scheduled European tour featuring Hatebreed and Life Of Agony. No official explanation has been offered regarding the apparent change.

While End It have remained silent, several artists have begun publicly supporting the fan involved. Escuela Grind announced that the first five attendees dressed as bananas at their June 10 show in Düsseldorf, Germany would receive a free gift, a move many interpreted as a show of solidarity with the fan.

Toronto punk outfit The OBGMs also weighed in on the controversy, sharing footage of the fan stage diving at one of their previous shows and posting a lengthy statement advocating for inclusivity within live music communities.
