Phoenix, Arizona death metal band Eternal have signed a new record deal with BLKIIBLK, marking a new chapter for the group as they put the finishing touches on their sophomore album.
Vocalist and guitarist Emilio Ortega discussed the band’s creative direction and their excitement about partnering with the label, explaining that the upcoming material draws inspiration from the roots of their influences while pushing their own sound forward.
“We looked beyond our direct influences, tracing things backwards to what inspired the bands that inspired us and finding ways to make those ideas our own. We’re pushing ourselves further than we have before. We’re incredibly proud of where it’s going. We’re excited to be sharing this with a new label partner but most importantly, our fans.”
Mike Gitter, head of A&R at BLKIIBLK, praised the band’s 2025 debut album, ‘Cryptic Lust’, and their live performances, highlighting their connection to death metal’s classic sound and their songwriting ability.
“‘Cryptic Lust’ was an undeniable record, and the band backed it up live, no question. They’re worshippers of the classic Morrisound sound that is part of the foundation of death metal itself, but that’s just the beginning. Eternal understand riffs; they understand songs and, most importantly, they know how to write the classics like very few of their contemporaries can even approach.”
Eternal are currently in the finishing stages of their second full-length album, which is expected to arrive sometime in 2027.
Before then, the band will hit the road in Europe this month alongside Suffocation, Ingested and Undeath. The tour kicked off October 8 and continues through October 28.
