Evergrey have officially announced the departure of longtime guitarist Henrik Danhage, bringing an end to a musical partnership that spanned more than two decades across multiple eras of the Swedish progressive metal outfit.
Danhage originally joined the band in 2000, remaining a key contributor until his first exit in 2010 before returning to the lineup in 2014. Across those years, he played an integral role in shaping the band’s modern melodic and progressive metal sound.
The band confirmed the split in a brief collective statement:
“Evergrey and Henrik have mutually decided to part ways after working together on and off for 21 years. It is now time for a new chapter for both parties. We wish each other all the best for future and look forward to new music from both Evergrey and Henrik. Stay tuned.”
While details surrounding the decision were not disclosed, Evergrey noted that Danhage’s replacement — along with new music — is expected to be revealed this Friday, April 9.
The announcement signals the start of a new era for the band as they prepare to move forward with fresh material and an updated lineup.
