Foo Fighters returned to The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on May 13th for a special, career-spanning performance that served as a tribute to the band’s long relationship with the late-night franchise.
Unlike their earlier appearance this month, which spotlighted material from their newly released album “Your Favorite Toy”, this latest performance leaned fully into nostalgia as the band delivered a medley of “This Is A Call” and “Everlong”.
The appearance was framed as a farewell-style moment, with The Late Show With Stephen Colbert set to conclude its run on May 21st.
The band’s connection to the franchise dates back decades. Their first-ever late-night TV performance took place on The Late Show With David Letterman in 1995, where they played their debut single “This Is A Call”. Years later, they returned under Letterman’s tenure once again for a landmark performance of “Everlong”, a song that had become closely associated with the host himself after he personally requested it for the broadcast.
The latest medley effectively bookended that history, revisiting both the band’s earliest breakthrough and one of their most iconic performances.
