Members of Will Haven are exploring new musical territory with the launch of Foreign Film, a post-rock project that has just released its debut album, “A Love Letter.”
The band is centered around Will Haven guitarist Jeff Irwin, who spearheaded the project before recruiting fellow Will Haven members Mitch Wheeler, Sean Bivins, and Adrien Contreras to round out the lineup.
The group also features pianist/keyboardist Robin Florkin, guitarist Rylan Kerr, and vocalist Tami Taracena, expanding the project’s sound beyond the boundaries of the Sacramento metal veterans’ established style.
Longtime Will Haven fans may recognize the band’s name. “Foreign Film” was also the title of a song that appeared on Will Haven’s 1997 debut album “El Diablo.”
Discussing the project and its newly released debut album, Irwin said:
“After two years of unhindered creativity, we are excited to share that experience with the world. A Love Letter is full of emotions, heartbreak, loss, reconciliation, and new beginnings, from start to finish. We hope everyone enjoys the ride as much as we did in creating it.”
Alongside the album’s release, Foreign Film have also premiered a music video for “Somnolence,” directed by Devon Whitaker.
The band will celebrate the album with a release show on June 19 at Goldfield Trading Post in Roseville, California. Simon Says is also scheduled to appear on the bill.
