Foreword have announced that their new EP, ‘Exposition’, will arrive on February 20th through Seek And Strike. For the release, the metalcore outfit teamed up with producer Cory Brunnemann (Nonpoint, Upon A Burning Body), marking a more exploratory and collaborative studio process for the band.
Expanding on the creative direction behind the EP, the band explained that Exposition represents a deeply personal step forward, both sonically and emotionally. Drawing inspiration from modern video game soundtracks — including DOOM and Cyberpunk 2077 — the group leaned into a more cinematic and atmospheric approach while still maintaining their core heaviness.
“This upcoming EP carries a particularly personal weight for us as a band,” Foreword shared.
“It represents a moment where we allowed ourselves to fully lean into the sounds, textures and influences that have shaped us over the years, while still pushing our identity forward.”
The EP showcases a wider palette of sounds than the band has explored previously, featuring increased use of synths, dynamic layering, and varied guitar tunings. Rather than forcing uniform heaviness, each track was allowed to dictate its own intensity, resulting in a more deliberate and emotionally driven listening experience.
To accompany the announcement, Foreword have unveiled a music video for their new single “Intimate Torment.” The visual was intentionally kept minimal, allowing the emotional weight of the song to take center stage.
“For the ‘Intimate Torment’ video we made a very intentional decision to keep things simple,” the band explained.
“The focus stayed on the members’ performances and emotion, giving the song space to feel as uncomfortable and raw as it’s meant to be.”
The band also noted that this release marks a shift in how they approached collaboration, placing greater trust in Brunnemann to help shape a cohesive sonic identity across the EP. The result, according to the group, is their most immersive and confident material to date — balancing atmosphere, melody, and aggression while remaining emotionally honest.
Fans can now watch the newly premiered video for “Intimate Torment,” with ‘Exposition’ officially set for release on February 20th.
