From Ashes To New have publicly disputed claims that the artwork for their upcoming album ‘Reflections’ was created using artificial intelligence.

The controversy began after a recent promotional post shared by the band on X (formerly Twitter) was automatically labeled as containing AI-generated media. The tag appeared to stem from the inclusion of the album’s cover art in the post, prompting confusion among fans and the band alike.

Rather than ignore the situation, the gold-certified nü-metal outfit directly addressed X’s built-in AI assistant Grok in an effort to correct the classification.

Over the weekend, the band issued a public response defending both the artwork and the artist responsible for it, stating:

“Hey @grok not cool to falsely call our album art AI. We paid an artist to create this art & stand by him, as he’s been creating incredible art for us long before AI was a tool people use. He uses photoshop to create detailed art and the last we checked photoshop isn’t AI.”

The group emphasized that the cover was created by a human artist using traditional digital design tools, pushing back against the growing issue of automated moderation systems misidentifying artwork as AI-generated.

‘Reflections’ is currently scheduled for release on April 17th.
