Uncertainty surrounding the future of Furnace Fest has grown in recent weeks, as the festival remained notably quiet about its 2026 edition despite dates being announced at the conclusion of last year’s event. In previous cycles, artist announcements were already rolling out by this point, making the silence increasingly noticeable to longtime attendees.
Concerns about the festival’s financial stability began to surface publicly in 2025, when organizers asked fans for support ahead of that year’s event. While founder Chad Johnson later reassured the community that the festival would proceed, questions lingered behind the scenes.
Festival organizer Johnny Grimes has now offered clarity on the situation, revealing that Furnace Fest has been sold to a yet-unnamed production company in order to resolve outstanding financial obligations.
In a video message shared this week, Grimes explained that Furnace Fest operated at a loss and was unable to fully cover remaining artist guarantees from the most recent edition. Facing mounting debts, the organizers entered discussions with a large production company that ultimately agreed to step in financially.
According to Grimes, that company covered the unpaid balances owed to artists, but the agreement required a full transfer of ownership. As a result, the original Furnace Fest organizers and staff — including Grimes himself — will no longer be involved with the festival moving forward.
Reflecting on the decision, Grimes emphasized that the move was made to preserve trust with the artists and community that helped build the festival’s reputation.
“The financial loss was significant, and we were not able to cover the remaining artist guarantees that we had,” Grimes said. “That broke our hearts. This festival has always been built on trust and integrity.”
Grimes noted that he and Johnson explored every available option before agreeing to the sale, calling it the only viable path forward to make things right.
“We knew we had to fix it no matter what it took,” he explained. “They paid the remaining artist balances, and for that we are incredibly thankful. But the sad reality is that in order for that to happen, we had to hand over Furnace Fest completely.”
While expressing disappointment that the original team will no longer be involved, Grimes framed his message around gratitude, highlighting the friendships, reunions, and community moments that defined the festival’s five-year run since its return.
He also offered well wishes to the new owners, expressing hope that they preserve the spirit that made Furnace Fest a cornerstone event for hardcore, punk, and alternative music fans.
“I walk away proud of what we’ve built,” Grimes said. “Proud of the music we celebrated, proud of the community that came alive every year.”
At the time of writing, no official announcement has been made by the new ownership group, and it remains unclear when — or if — Furnace Fest 2026 details will be formally unveiled.

Insurance is probably a billion dollars
Brandon Hoffman per band lol
They had to sell to pay the bands from last year… respect to them for making things right with the artists
Matt Kramm so Jimmy Eat World killed Furnace Fest?
Blaming a festival on a headliner not succeeding is pretty ridiculous
Jimmy eat world just got paid to show up and play, they’re not responsible for a festival not succeeding.
Garret Pietila Nah. It was probably Knocked Loose.
Will Ledger Knocked Loose had played the fest before. It was Jimmy Eat World definitely had a hand in it. They’re also at least part of the reason the main stage lost the platform and had a barricade this past year 😞
Will Ledger nah they’ve played before and might have accepted a lower offer. I bet it was jimmy that ate a huge chunk
If it comes back so do the barricade. RIP to the realest music festival to ever hit the scene
Andrew Saus II luckily, Endless Fires Fest will one-up this
Josh Mulligan Eternal Conscious Torment Fest
Josh Mulligan that looks legit so far but furnace brought so many small niche bands back from retirement
Jeremy nah, Annhiliationism is where it’s at
Jeremy Villanueva its from the guy that brought syracuse Hellfest 1998-2003
Josh Mulligan Thats sick, but banda that hadn’t played in almost 20 years came back for furnace. And the genres were all different every day. I dont think anyone will top furnace in terms of their lineup
Andrew Saus II pretty sure we almost killed Spencer
Vicki pretty sure that’s the way he wouldn’t have minded going out
Andrew Saus II lmao poser
Juan Pablito I’m a poser….how?
Andrew Saus II “RIP to the realest music festival” tells me youre fuckin tourist
sold to the punk in the park trumper.
Matt McGee for real ?? Fuck that shit
Zouain just a guess…but im pretty good at this.
I respect them for making this hard call but this is devastating 😞 hopefully the new people will see the importance of sticking to the roots of what made this festival so amazing ❤️
Jacqueline Kollias fucking hope. Been my favorite thing to do last 5 years
Jesus Alba I know, me too for the last two 🥺🥺
Jacqueline Kollias from what I’ve seen being said so far, everything will be close to the same. The security team from last couple years even want to still be part of it.
Jacqueline Kollias the people that took it are apparently fans of Furnace Fest and they don’t want to change much. They were even at Furnace last year
Jesus Alba oh that makes me so happy, I hope liability wise they aren’t forced to change too much being a bigger company, even if they don’t want to
Jacqueline Kollias regardless something will have to change. Prices at least. They operated at a loss last year so you can bet the price will skyrocket.
Brandon Cole yeah, I’m sure. But worth it! 😅
Jacqueline Kollias obviously we will probably see some changes as far as acts but I think there’s a way to keep the core fans happy and bring in other people too. Just gotta wait and see. I think we’ll get a good idea once the first batch of bands are announced
Jacqueline Kollias also hope they keep the barricades away lol
Jesus Alba yeah me too 🥺
Jacqueline Kollias 🤞🤞

Just get Memphis may fire they need to play
I bet Danny wimmer bought it
Thomas Jackson nope. Asked that already lmao
Jesus Alba thank god
Matt Cutshall me thinks E.N.D.?
Mark Servilio that.. would actually make sense since ff had a stage on the cruise. I hadn’t considered that and it would the only outcome that doesnt make me cringe.
Thomas Jackson that’s what I was thinking when I first saw the video.
Gonna turn to shit
Lizzy McDonald literally. Barricades and pig patrol
Ethan Chapman Yup.
Lizzy McDonaldMedia: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=25726103430351035&set=p.25726103430351035&type=3
Jeremy Villanueva Yeah I saw. It’s not even gonna be worth going.
Its gonna be a mainstream fest with country bands
Gonna be like Daytona rock fest
Stephen G Young ngl might not be a bad thing.
on the plus side, they can afford some competent sound techs.
Josh Cornell got ‘em.
My only gripe with the fest was main stage sound. Haven’t fixed it in the last 3 years lol
Cutting Johnny and Chad out was a terrible call.
Katie Baker Johnny and Chad cut out Mike and Ryan. It was dirty behind-the-scenes. 2025 was a selfish money grab for those two, and now they had to hand over the rest to some clowns to pay for their costly mistake.
Michael Henry Mike is being dramatic and didn’t need to drag Ryan’s name into it. The person complaining loudest is usually in the wrong. There are plenty of people not involved with FF that think Mike is shady 🤷♀️
Katie Baker The fact that 2025 flopped so hard should tell you all you need to know about Mike and Ryan’s prior involvement. Mike is being loud because he had to be quiet for over a year 🤷♂️
Travis Furman
Who cares it was an nostalgia based fest that kept saying that each year was the last year to trick people into buying tickets and then as soon as the fest was over oh man, we had such a blast. We’re gonna do it again next year good riddance
Nik Morin Why would someone be mad they did it again lol
Nik Morin happened once. Did you go?
Nik Morin ugh my steak is too juicy and my lobster is too buttery 😭
Nik Morin I went 5 years in a row. They said that one year out of 5. Every other year they had already announced next year before the end of the fest.
Never tricked me into buying shit
Dumb
Jasta buy it??
Anna Skinner I doubt it with how bad MMF is this year looks like that cash has been exhausted but he’d be better at FF than that for sure
Michael Hayes
Danielle Elizabeth Brown I know. Crazy
Lol it’s because they know it’s never going to happen again
It’s Live Nation isn’t it? Next years headliner is gonna be Five Finger Donkey Punch.
If you can’t pay the bands, then they’re not worth their guarantee, or you’re not allocating money in the right places.
Daniel Taylor what i feel, the organizers are great people with big hearts which i think unfortunately to offering or accepting larger offers then they should for reunion bands
Private equity
Wasn’t Furnace Fest 2025 supposed to be their final year of operation?
Daniel Paul end of day , they announced 2026
Cory Duryee Ah I see. As much as I’d love to go, Birmingham is almost a 10 hour drive from my city.
Daniel Paul was a 16 hour drive from Minnesota and hit a show in nashville on the way, totally worth it and the city is affordable to go do other things
Cory Duryee I’m not doubting you by any means. But budget issues prohibit me from going as I’d have to give up attending the other 2 or 3 out of state concert events I previously had my heart set on earlier in the year.
Daniel Paul a way to negate some of that budget is make some friends who might be driving and car pool and stay with a few people at an air bnb to save coin. But, i get it man last year was super tight budget to make it to 2025 because my friend and I were afraid itd be the last chance
Daniel Paul i drove from nyc in 2024. 100% worth it.
Daniel Paul people flew from Australia, Sweden, New Zealand, England…10 hour drive
Those ticket prices won’t ever be the same 😭
Ah the way of warped. Way she fucking goes boys.
Craig McRee, is this the festival you were referring to?
Matt Harris nope.
Thank goodness HELLFEST is back…..
I was over it when they held a fuckin prayer before stretch arm strong played the first year
Kyle Williams are you going to cry about it?
Kyle Williams it was beloved.
Jim Fountain yep. It was speech by Chad for unity and how we all belong. Then he prayed right before a Christian band played. Amazing moment for 99% of the people who wanted to see Beloved.
Yep, I’m not a Christian at all – beloved is one of my fav bands. I realize not everything has to be catered to me. Imagine being worked up about a prayer at a reunion of a Christian music festival lmao
definitely need god to believe in unity and how we all belong is a good thing
Kyle Williams nobody forced you to participate
Kyle Williams I’ll take things that never happened for $500.
Lizzy McDonald ok
Ugh 😢
Sad
Derek Armitage 😢
RL Brandon Brooks Yeah, this isn’t surprising. LMFAO.
Henry Luna welp…
Patrick Mortenson yeah man. Let’s see what happens.
It has gone downhill anyways in the last couple years. Shoulda ended it when they originally planned. It’s a completely different fest now.
Cameron D Boyle
“…yet unnamed production company..” sure is a long winded way of saying Live Nation.

Jessica Smeenk
Frank Smeenk I saw this last night
Jon Vroom
Melnda Vroom 😲🤔
Why wouldn’t they just let it be the last year as originally planned…
Sterling Cecil Wiley Martin
Joshua Oden I know. They did keep a couple people that did a lot of footwork helping organize everything. So I’m remaining hopeful
Kate Todd
