German alternative metal band Future Palace have released a new music video for their song “Nixy,” just days after the arrival of their fourth studio album, ‘Resurgence.’
The album was released on July 31st via Century Media Records, marking the latest chapter for the rapidly rising band.
The newly released video for “Nixy” is performance-based and features footage captured from several of the group’s festival appearances this year, including Wacken Open Air, Vainstream Rockfest, Nova Rock, and Impericon Festival.
Speaking about the track, guitarist Manuel Kohlert explained that the song stands apart from the rest of the album due to its emphasis on riffs and energetic dynamics.
“‘Nixy’ stands out because it focuses on riffs and has an upbeat chorus, which makes the song deliver a unique tension. Playing it feels like a rollercoaster ride that is over way too quick.”
Vocalist Maria Lessing also discussed the meaning behind the song, explaining that its lyrical themes challenge the often-debated concept of separating artists from their actions.
“‘Nixy’ is also a critique to the common phrase: Separate art from the artist.’ I think this is ignorance, especially if you translate it to other systems of the world.”
Lessing continued by emphasizing personal responsibility and the importance of confronting uncomfortable truths rather than ignoring them for the sake of convenience.
“We should not separate the behavior from a person from what they also create. We should not only see what we want to see, just so we can keep consuming and ignore all the bad parts about it. Music and also the world should be a safe space for everyone.”
The release of “Nixy” gives fans another look at ‘Resurgence’, which is now available through Century Media.
