Godflesh have unleashed another preview of what is expected to be their penultimate studio album, with the influential industrial metal outfit premiering the new single “Master And Slave.”
The track arrives ahead of ‘Decay’, which Relapse Records has scheduled for release on September 25.
The album represents another significant chapter in the band’s ongoing farewell, following frontman, guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Justin K. Broadrick’s recent revelation that an abdominal injury and subsequent surgery have left him unable to deliver the screaming style required by Godflesh.
Despite ‘Decay’ marking the beginning of the end, one more studio album is reportedly planned for release next year. Recording sessions are expected to take place during November and December, with the project tentatively titled ‘The End’.
Following that record, Godflesh may continue with remix and dub releases, but the band is expected to eventually bring its run as a live and recording act to a close.
Broadrick isn’t stepping away from industrial music, however. He is also preparing to launch a new project called White Light District, which is expected to emerge as Godflesh enters its final era.
