Gojira are riding high after a massive cycle behind their 2021 release, Fortitude. Since then, the French progressive metal titans have made history as the first metal band to perform during the Olympics opening ceremony, collaborated with a global orchestra, won a GRAMMY Award, and shared the stage with Korn, Loathe, and even Metallica.
Now, the band is preparing to carry that momentum into 2026 with their highly anticipated eighth studio album.
In a recent interview with le Parisien, drummer Mario Duplantier revealed that the new album is nearly complete. He shared:
“It’s almost finished, we’re going back to big guitar riffs and a more metal, but more modern, sound. There are two more songs to refine. We wanted to move quickly, but we didn’t succeed. We thought about it so much that we almost got lost. It’s harder to match our tastes than when we were 20, and that’s normal.”
While most bands would be looking for time off after years of relentless touring, Gojira are doubling down, with a busy tour schedule that will lead right into the new release.
