Progressive metal mainstays Haken have announced a major lineup change, confirming the departures of longtime guitarist Charlie Griffiths and bassist Conner Green.
The band shared the news via social media, describing the split as amicable while reflecting on the legacy both musicians leave behind.
“It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the departure of Charlie Griffiths and Conner Green from Haken. We are tremendously grateful for the time we’ve spent together, creating music and touring the world, achieving things we thought weren’t possible.”
Haken went on to praise the impact both members had on the band’s identity and evolution.
“Both Charlie and Conner are irreplaceable, as musicians and individuals, and they have given so much to make this band what it is today. We cannot thank them enough, but we wish them all the best with any future endeavours. They will always be a part of the Haken family.”
Despite the shake-up, the band reassured fans that their creative momentum remains intact, confirming that new music is still planned for 2026.
Charlie Griffiths had been a cornerstone of Haken since 2008, playing a crucial role in shaping the band’s intricate, genre-bending sound across their entire studio catalog. Outside of the band, Griffiths has remained active with his solo project Tiktaalika, further exploring progressive and extreme metal territory.
Conner Green joined Haken in 2014 following the departure of original bassist Thomas MacLean and quickly became a defining presence during the band’s modern era, contributing to their increasingly complex and rhythm-driven approach.
The announcement follows a period of uncertainty surrounding Haken’s recent activity, including a cancelled appearance at Euroblast Festival and the band stepping away from previously scheduled dates with Coheed and Cambria.
At this time, no details have been revealed regarding potential replacement members or whether the upcoming material will feature additional collaborators.
