Post-hardcore collective Held. have unveiled their latest single, “KNIFEPOINT,” closing out a three-part music video storyline the band began earlier this year. The track features a guest appearance from Graham Sayle, vocalist of UK hardcore/post-punk outfit High Vis.
Held. brings together Douglas Robinson (vocals/guitars) and Sal Mignaro (bass) of Long Island post-hardcore act The Sleeping alongside Coheed And Cambria drummer Josh Eppard. The new single continues the band’s aggressive yet melodic direction ahead of their debut full-length release.
Discussing how the collaboration came together, Robinson explained:
“This song has a lot of attitude, and that’s a big reason we wanted Graham from High Vis to be a part of it. We’re all big fans of Graham and High Vis. When I wrote the pre-chorus, I envisioned this British attitude reminiscent of bands like Bloc Party and Test Icicles, and I wanted it to come from someone who could back the attitude up. Graham is the perfect example of someone who can back-up their words with action.”
Sayle also shared his excitement about joining the project, adding:
“I was proper excited to jump on and be a part of it. I’ve always loved the chaotic side of the post-hardcore spectrum. I love the difference in our accents and how it somehow makes sense.”
Directed by Adam Thomson, the music video for “KNIFEPOINT” serves as the concluding chapter in a trilogy that launched in January with “NEW YOU ANTHEM” (featuring Frank Iero of My Chemical Romance) and continued in March with “CONSTANT TENSION.”
Held.’s debut album ‘GREY’ is scheduled for release May 15th via MNRK Heavy.
Fans looking to catch the project in its earliest live form can attend the band’s debut performance on April 18th at Elsewhere in Brooklyn, NY, where Common Sage will also appear.
