ENSTRIFE, a progressive metal band from Ridgewood, New York, has been redefining the genre since 2019. The band’s journey began with a powerful act of defiance during the pandemic. In place of live shows, they created IN MEDIAS RES, a live EP released exclusively as a physical-only offering. This was a direct statement against the digital music industry, emphasizing their commitment to creating something “real, raw, imperfect and alive.” This approach continued with their debut album, Messiah Marionette, an eight-track masterwork that solidified their reputation as a formidable force. Self-engineered by the band and co-produced with Louis Padilla, the album’s raw, visceral energy made a deeply personal and powerful statement about control and rebellion.
