Malaysian songwriter and producer Shizumaru brings the euphoria and imperfections of live performances to metal enthusiasts in the comfort of their own environment.
Growing up, the nearly 50-year-old self-taught musician resonated with metal albums from Metallica, Iron Maiden, and Skid Row. He felt an affinity for heavy metal music and felt something change within him when Nirvana’s hit album, Nevermind was released in 1991. Shizumaru especially enjoyed the raw angst and emotion of metal music and sought to begin his own musical journey to share his story.
Shizumaru’s music mirrors the human experience – it isn’t always perfect. His songs are raw and unfiltered. No fake stories. Just real emotion is shared in bite-sized pieces through each song.
Since he began releasing music on streaming services in 2019, Shizumaru has released 5 singles about love, loss, ambition, and war. While he primarily writes and produces his own music as an indie bedroom metal musician, Shizumaru has also collaborated with bassist Rich Gray on “Bury My Heart on Wounded Knee” and “Samishii”. His music has also been recognized by Metal Mayhem Radio and RoadieMetal.
He looks forward to connecting with listeners this year and sharing more unique stories.
