Ice Nine Kills Transform Into Glam Metal Act ‘Grave Diggler’ For “Hell Or High Slaughter” Video

Ice Nine Kills have unveiled their second horror film collaboration of the year, debuting a new track titled “Hell Or High Slaughter” in partnership with the upcoming film Ready Or Not 2: Here I Come.

Pushing their theatrical tendencies even further, the gold-certified melodic metalcore outfit adopt the fictional persona of their “father’s band,” Grave Diggler, for the release — leaning fully into a tongue-in-cheek vintage glam metal aesthetic. The song arrives alongside an intentionally retro-styled music video framed as a long-lost relic from the late ’80s.

The video premieres as the slasher horror/dark comedy hits theaters, with returning star Samara Weaving reprising her role. Fans attending screenings can hear portions of “Hell Or High Slaughter” early in the film as well as during the end credits.

Frontman Spencer Charnas leaned into the fictional backstory surrounding the project, explaining the narrative behind the supposed rediscovered performance:

“I’ve been estranged from my father for a long time. But this movie, and this song, while bringing a lot of complicated feelings to the surface, also brought us back together.”

Adding to the band’s elaborate meta-horror humor, Spencer’s fictional father Sonny Charnas also weighed in:

“You call my son shrieking into a microphone like a meshuggah mental patient ‘singing’? That’s not heavy metal. I’m heavy metal.”

To further sell the concept, the band released an accompanying faux documentary featuring various guest appearances, expanding the lore behind the “Grave Diggler” persona and the imagined history of the track.

The release continues Ice Nine Kills’ long-running tradition of blending horror cinema with music-driven storytelling, this time filtered through a glam metal lens.
