Swedish progressive metalcore outfit Imminence have officially signed with Sumerian Records, marking the start of a new era for the band alongside the release of their latest single, “The Sword That Never Bends,” which arrives with a medieval-themed music video.
The visual was directed once again by Pavel Trebukhin, continuing the band’s evolving conceptual worldbuilding and atmospheric storytelling approach. The clip leans heavily into a dark, medieval aesthetic, further expanding the narrative threads tied to their recent creative arc.
The track itself was produced with Drew Fulk, known for his work with acts like Knocked Loose and Disturbed, and continues to push the band’s blend of cinematic intensity and progressive metalcore weight.
Imminence commented on the writing process and how quickly the track took shape:
“We all knew from the start — this was a single. Everyone who heard it felt the same. ‘The Sword That Never Bends’ came alive in a way that immediately defined both the sound and the themes of where Imminence is headed next. It introduces a new dimension to our identity and carries a relentless energy that pulls you out from the shadows of The Black.
The writing process can best be summed up in one word: flow. Everything began in our home studio, where each piece fell into place almost effortlessly. It felt unmistakably like Imminence, yet shaped into something new — exactly the kind of song we’ve been striving to create for years.”
Sumerian Records founder Ash Avildsen also spoke on signing the band, highlighting the long pursuit behind bringing them to the label:
“Imminence is a band that has such presence, depth and world building to their music that I was instantly captivated when I first heard them. They are prolific story tellers of emotions. I have been pursuing them for years and am deeply honored they have chosen Sumerian for this next era of their career.”
With the signing now official and a new single setting the tone, “The Sword That Never Bends” signals a broader shift in both sound and narrative direction as the band moves into their next chapter with Sumerian Records.
