In Flames are officially back in the studio and moving forward with the follow-up to 2023’s Foregone. The Swedish melodic death metal veterans have begun recording what will become their 15th studio album.
The update surfaced on February 3, when multi-instrumentalist Björn Gelotte shared a brief studio video on social media. While light on details, the clip left little room for interpretation thanks to the pointed hashtag #ifxv, all but confirming that new In Flames material is actively in progress.
At this stage, the band have not revealed additional information regarding the album’s sound, tracklist, producer, or projected release window. Still, confirmation of studio sessions marks the first concrete step toward the next chapter for In Flames, who have continued to evolve their sound while reconnecting with elements of their melodic death metal roots in recent years.
