Ingested Re-Record Vocals For New Album ‘Denigration’ Following Josh Davies’ Departure

Ingested have confirmed that all vocals on their upcoming eighth studio album Denigration have been completely re-recorded following the dismissal of former vocalist Josh Davies.

According to the British deathcore band, guitarists Sean Hynes and Andrew Virrueta stepped in to handle the newly recorded vocal performances. Both musicians previously contributed backing vocals within the group, making them natural choices to complete the overhaul.

The decision effectively replaces every vocal performance originally recorded by Davies for the album, which had been announced roughly one week before allegations of sexual assault surfaced against him last month. Davies was subsequently removed from the band.

Over the weekend, Davies issued a personal statement denying the accusations, saying:

“To date, I have not been contacted by the police and I am not currently under investigation, I categorically deny all allegations that have been circulated on social media. Any suggestion that I have abused or taken advantage of anyone is completely untrue.”

In a new update shared March 9th, Ingested explained the reasoning behind revisiting the album and confirmed that revised recordings will soon replace previously released material, including the single “Merciless Reflection.”

“As we get closer to the release of DENIGRATION, we want to share an important update.

Sean and Andrew have re-recorded all vocals across the album. When the next single drops; the updated recordings will begin rolling out, and the current digital version of ‘Merciless Reflection’ will be replaced. From that point forward, the new recordings will stand as the definitive edition of the record.

All physical and digital versions worldwide will reflect these updated vocals.

This wasn’t a small decision, but it was the right one for the future of the band and the album. We’re proud of how the record stands, and it represents where Ingested is today as we move forward.

This incarnation of Ingested captures a specific moment in time and stands as a unique document this chapter our history.

Alongside this, we’ll begin the search for a new frontman as we build what comes next.

The situation mirrors a notable precedent within the deathcore scene, recalling Thy Art Is Murder’s 2023 decision to re-record vocals after parting ways with vocalist CJ McMahon following controversy surrounding public statements at the time.

Denigration remains scheduled for release on May 8th, now representing a transitional chapter for Ingested as the band moves forward with a revised lineup and creative direction.
