Iron Maiden Documentary In The Works for Universal Pictures, Set for 2025 Release

Aside from the previously announced Netflix documentary ‘Run to the Hills: The Story of Iron Maiden’, a second Iron Maiden documentary is officially in production, this time from Universal Pictures Content Group. Set for an autumn 2025 release, the untitled documentary will coincide with the band’s 50th anniversary and will receive an international theatrical release, with U.S. distribution still pending.

This newly revealed film promises an in-depth exploration of the legendary heavy metal band’s history. Featuring exclusive interviews with past and present members, rare archival footage, and never-before-seen animated sequences of the band’s iconic mascot Eddie, the documentary aims to capture the enduring legacy of Iron Maiden.

Among the confirmed interviewees are notable musicians and actors, including Javier Bardem, Lars Ulrich (Metallica), and Gene Simmons (KISS). The documentary will also feature the final recorded interview with original Iron Maiden vocalist Paul Di’Anno, who passed away last year.

Helen Parker, Executive Vice President of Universal Pictures Content Group and Executive Producer, shared:

The documentary is being directed by Malcolm Venville (Churchill at War) and produced by Dominic Freeman (Spirits in the Forest – A Depeche Mode Film), with Helen Parker serving as Executive Producer.

In addition to the film, Iron Maiden will be hitting the road this year for their ‘Run For Your Lives’ tour, kicking off in May in Budapest, Hungary.
