Stoner rock veterans Fu Manchu are set to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their third studio album, ‘In Search Of…’, with a special expanded vinyl reissue arriving on August 28.
The anniversary edition will feature the album’s original track listing alongside a bonus LP containing the band’s previously unreleased 1995 demo recordings for the record. According to the announcement, those early sessions have never been made publicly available, making the release the first opportunity for fans to hear the rough versions that helped shape the album.
Originally released in 1996, ‘In Search Of…’ is widely regarded as one of the defining releases in Fu Manchu’s catalog, helping establish the group’s signature blend of fuzz-drenched riffs, desert rock grooves and skate culture-inspired aesthetics that would become synonymous with the band’s sound.
The forthcoming package will be available in two different colored vinyl variants. Pre-orders are scheduled to launch on June 22, giving collectors an early chance to secure copies ahead of the late-summer release date.
For longtime fans, the inclusion of the 1995 demos offers a rare glimpse into the creative process behind one of Fu Manchu’s most beloved albums, while newcomers will have an opportunity to revisit a cornerstone release from the stoner rock movement in an expanded format.
