Former All That Remains guitarist Jason Richardson has offered additional insight into the circumstances surrounding his July 2025 departure from the platinum-certified metalcore band, revealing that behind-the-scenes business matters ultimately led to his exit.
Richardson joined All That Remains in 2018 following the passing of founding guitarist Oli Herbert and later appeared on the band’s 2025 album ‘Antifragile’. In June 2025, speculation about his future with the group intensified after he shared a cryptic social media post that read:
“I have not ever felt so disrespected, taken advantage of, for granted or undermined like this in my entire career. Unbelievable. Never again.”
Although no context was given at the time, rumors quickly circulated regarding a potential split. Roughly a month later, Richardson and the band confirmed they had parted ways, with statements from both sides describing the separation as amicable.
Speaking recently with Guitar World, Richardson clarified that the decision was largely tied to business expectations that, in his view, were never fulfilled rather than personal conflicts within the band.
“Kind of, but not, simultaneously. I don’t wanna get into the weeds of it publicly, but I’m still cool with all of the guys in the band. It was mostly just a business thing. And things just didn’t… were not executed like they were promised to be, from management and the people tasked with putting the record out. I’m glad the record exists, but the fact that it’s already been out almost a year and there hasn’t been one show… So it’s, like, there’s just a lot of things on the business side in the back end that I was not happy with at all.”
He emphasized that his departure was not rooted in interpersonal issues, adding that he remains on good terms with his former bandmates.
“It has nothing to do with anyone’s personality or anyone in the band at all. It just wasn’t, in my opinion — like, I could be doing other things than trying to make that work when it so clearly was not going to — from my perspective, at least.”
Richardson also spoke positively about working with producer Josh Wilbur on the album and noted that the collaboration led to an ongoing creative relationship.
“I still love the guys. I love the record. I loved working with Josh Wilbur… He’s phenomenal. And that’s probably one of the best things about that record, for me at least, is now I have a great relationship with him, and we’re gonna keep working together. But I am happy all those songs are real, so there’s that at least.”
Earlier this year, Richardson’s former position in All That Remains was officially filled by ex-As I Lay Dying and Unearth guitarist Ken Susi. After largely avoiding touring in support of ‘Antifragile’ throughout 2025, the band are now preparing to return to the road this spring with a U.S. headlining run.

Then why sign on . ?
Allan Bloodworth how would you know those things without experiencing them 🤦♂️
Allan Bloodworth hes very particular on the direction he wants to take with guitar. Its the reason why he brings an amazing new edge yo every band he touches then moves on.
Allan Bloodworth exposure
Allan Bloodworth It’s not like they told him in advance what problems and differences would arise.
Odd thing to ask…
God damn I wish you were still in Chelsea Grin
Joseph Michael that was the best era of CG imo
Nate Nero 110% Jasons riffage is unmatched
Cooper Mazick or BoO. He’s just so brilliant whatever he touches. He needs to just make his own fucking band already 😭 dude is gonna be like John 5 and just be a absolute beast of a hired gun for the rest of his life
Allen Islas exactly dude. He just needs to write his own stuff again he clearly dosent like how other people write 😭
Cooper Mazick maaan. First time I listened to that new all that remains album, in the back of my head I’m like “this dude is just playing in the playground till he’s bored here bruh. Tf he doing here”🤣 like come on we ain’t surprised he left dawg.
Allen Islas yeah exactly, he’s def in a league of his own bro. I just wish he’d hunker down instead of ambiguously leaving but if I had his skillset I’d honestly play in as many bands as I could
Joseph Michael The Discovery by BoO was absolutely nutty too .
Timmy Wiley YUP
Timmy Wiley that album was absolute perfection 👌
Ah look, Jason Richardson whining about something again.
Jarrett Lewis i mean hes one of the best guitarists living so I would say hes earned a right to be picky

I think the arrival was just stating the band wasn’t touring
Let’s bring Angie into the comments, unless she’s in jail for killing Oli….if we talk about it enough, like Beetlejuice, she will appear.
Colin Sizemore there’s so much weird shit going on with that case. I don’t for a second believe that foul play isn’t involved.
Colin Sizemore Beth is who killed Oli btw
As always
Just can’t handle being in a band
Drake Veit bro was with them for 6-7 years.
This dude has to be hard to work with based off his history.
Dylan Hitsman doesnt help that phil is pushing politics now
Fred Gilbert Day-Hirt III Phil has always been the way that he is lol
Dylan Hitsman four bands (All That Reminds, All Shall Perish, Born of Osiris, Chelsea Grin) in what, like 16 years? Pretty damn good track record lol
Jason’s potential was being held back. Just saying. And he was listed as a rhythm guitarist, although he could out SHRED other dude any day of the week
Danny Dawes his song hoe’s down is fire
He was arguably better than Oli (rip)
Danny Dawes wiki says lead guitarist?
Jarrett Aldrich I don’t think that’s accurate and everytime I saw them live Jason maybe did one solo but was always in the background a bit but now it makes sense because I don’t buy for a second he wasn’t arguing with that dumb fuck Phil
All he wants is only red m&m’s on his rider!!!! GOSH is that SUCH a big ask???
This dork is in and out of bands constantly. Its almost like hes the problem lol
Usual
Think it more to do with, Jason wanted a big push on the album and lots touring.. ATR members are older with young children who probably don’t want to be on the road 24/7
Justin Lemke Bro they played zero shows in 2025 when they dropped the album (as far as im aware, no shows in 2023 either). Only did a support run for Megadeth in 24. Theres a difference between being on the road all the time and not touring at all. Say things for what they are. Phil has his alt right redneck bitching podcast stuff and makes money from there, the other members of ATR have other projects (namely Babymetal), that leaves the youngster Jason screwed over. And he was in the band since 2018 mind you
support run with megadeth was when the album dropped.. but yes, Iam guessing Jason expected more touring
Guy seems hard to work with
I blame him actually, it’s like his 5th band or smth
Beato Wav third since 2009
Born of osiris, all shall perish, chelsea grinn, all that remains and his solo project. So, 5th
Beato Wav For All Shall Perish he was only in a touring role iirc
Always business issues!
God forbid a rock musician respect himself enough to request his art be treated as a real business. I really admire JR.
And one of my favorite guitarists took his place
He threw a temper tantrum because the band didn’t tour? Yup sounds like Jason
Dan Archer God forbid a career musician want to be on the road making money.
He’s not gettin royalties from anything ATR besides one album… you think he can just sit home and collect a check?
This is a job like anything else. But imagine having a job where the world thinks they are ALL your boss.. and they all think you should act and react a certain way. 🤓
Justin Justin he could’ve written and toured another album with LH. Last one was great. Ken’s a better fit for ATR anyway. But once again Jason wrote another album nobody else can play and immediately left following its release. That’s like 3 times now
Dan Archer ignorant take. Touring musicians sacrifice so much of what many take for granted in life so they can be on the road when needed…what’s the sacrifice for if that doesn’t happen??
Dan Archer its his livelihood. He hasn’t been living off of massive touring band money for two decades like they have.
EDIT: I know ATR isn’t huge, but in comparison to what he’d done prior, they’re huge.
Not to avoid the fact that jason is one of those people that jumps from band to band, he shouldn’t be faulted for wanting the band he’s in to actually go an make money.
I know what he wasn’t happy with….their cover of “thunder rolls”.
Chaz Rutledge that song came out like 10 years before he was even in the band lol
Travis Ownsby 🤣 it doesn’t matter, he’s still not happy about it, none of us are! Haha
Chaz Rutledge it was definitely different. They are my favorite band and I will say that whole city pretty much sucked ass other than like two songs lol I didn’t hate that cover but I will say I don’t go out of my way to listen to it lol
Travis Ownsby the cover came out in 2017. He became an official member in 2019. 10 years is way off and not even remotely close.
Kris Nelson damn. Why does it seem like Oli passed way longer ago?
This dude is a beast. I’m excited to see where he lands. I really hope he gets the opportunity to showcase his skills with a band that gives him some artistic freedom.
Robb Bagnall he’s been in like 12 different bands.
All shall perish, born of Osiris, Chelsea grin, did some collab work, solo stuff, all that remains now…
He just seems to be hard to work with.
Blake Milum I can see that too. Most Divas are.
They released their best album since 2006, and it was because of him. I would’ve paid the man what he wanted.
Jered Lacks arguably their best since Fall of Ideals imo. But I believe he wanted immediate and constant touring, while the other members are older with children, some still babies, and are opting for a more relaxed schedule.
This just looked funnyMedia: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10102519118425252&set=p.10102519118425252&type=3
Great player, can’t seem to pick a band and stick with them. Headline should say “Jason Richardson exit a pattern of habit”
I really wonder if it’s just the bands because it’s odd that one of the most respected guitarists in the world can’t seem to stay for more than one album cycle with any band
Joseph Salvatori Too many bands cycled through for it to be a coincidence, it’s him.
That’s like saying a girl dates 60 men and blames them all, but it can’t be the girl that’s the problem.
Paul Clark agreed, but the last time I said this I got dog piled talking about how I was an idiot. But yeah it’s absolutely him lol
I’ve met him and seen him interact with many people before. He has an ego for sure. But he’s also an introvert. I don’t think working in a band setting is ever really going to work for him. Some people are better off alone
Joseph Salvatori We can never deny how gnarly he is, I think he has the god complex and a touch of the tism. Usually hand in hand on the upper spectrum. But if he’s like some of the band mates I’ve met, I’d loathe being in a band with him.
I’m a solo artist myself because I don’t want to encounter any Jason Richardsons. It’s disheartening and stressful.
Joseph Salvatori probably on some high horse shit
Eric Turner it’s his ego
Joseph Salvatori iv heard he’s hard to work with
Joseph Salvatorihe’s gotten to the point where he thinks his shit doesn’t stink and no band is up to his standards.
Joseph Salvatori “respected” 💀💀💀
Dude is constantly complaining and whining. I also have 0 respect for guitar thieves.
Jarrett Lewis you may not respect him, but the overwhelming majority of people do
You can also dislike someone but still respect them.
Joseph Salvatori bro he’s not even known by “the overwhelming majority” of people lmao. Get out of your echo chamber
Sick guitarist, very obviously problematic to work with. You can’t have problems with like 10 bands and somehow they’re all the problem and you aren’t. Just doesn’t add up.
He either has way too high of expectations, tries to lead the entire band instead of making his own, or something else. All I know is sum ting wong.
100% 1 year and no shows complete failure on all that remains when they should have had tpurs lined up and business first!!
Drama Queen
Left right when they announced a tour with his former band he did not have a good split with. I assume that was the last straw.
I can see that, I remember years ago Jason shared some shit on his twitter/facebook about the falling out and how he was owed money for his work for BOO, and he got like an insulting amount of money. So i could see the bad blood still forsure
Every band he joins he leaves … see the trend…
Joseph Dubahu he was kicked out of the band that best matched him.
Matthew Johnson hes been a problem in every band he’s been in .. he’s talented for sure
Joseph Dubahu not wanting to party all the time is a problem? That’s a weird thought process.
Matthew Johnson haha you don’t know have a clue
Joseph Dubahu inform me then.
Matthew Johnson do your homework
Joseph Dubahu dude you can’t claim I don’t know shit then not explain. I personally don’t give a shit enough to dive deeper into it. But if I’m wrong I’ll admit it. You just need to explain.
Another day that ends in “Y”
The dude switches out bands like a pair of socks with this attitude of “don’t you know who I am”
I swear Jason Richardson, Mike Smith and Kyle Rasmussen (Vitriol) need to start a group together. With their combined egos it should work out
This guys just a parasite finding new hosts all over the place. Then he leaves and blames the group instead of admitting he might be a pain in the ass.
i love watching people talk about him like they know him personally or something lol. God forbid a musician wanna do musician things. Its almost like he chose to leave so he could do exactly that.
He specifically says in the interview that it was about management and them not backing the album much, and it has nothing to do with the other members. He’s still friends with all of the guys
Oli would shit on this dude
Salary members make money off touring. So how long can you stay a member of a band when you’re an accomplished musician who can’t make any money?
Incredible player, no doubt. But at this point it’s become a pattern. Every band he joins he ends up having some kind of issue with and exits. It’s probably safe to say he’s the issue. Dude just has to be difficult to work with.
This dude literally always has something to bitch and moan about regardless of what band he’s in.
All the remains with Ken susi? I’m in
A lot of comments here accusing him of being problematic when he’s only been kicked out of one band. Jason has claimed amicable departure from Chelsea Grin and All That Remains on numerous accounts. If there’s more to these stories, anyone can speculate, but trying to drive or fabricate a narrative after statements have been made from all parties makes no sense.
Exit artist
Fuck I didn’t even know he left
Dude has a super off putting attitude so I’m sure it’s not just how he was feeling
You don’t have join and quit THAT many bands unless youre impossible to work with, guarantee dude’s probably just a dick or annoying
Jason better be in the next guitar hero
I am more interested in susi.
2nd band in 3 years…
King of bouncing from band to band after unearth…
I wanna see how att sounds with some unearth stylee… Cause I liked the new AILD sound despite people claiming it more EMO than before…
Even though that band broke up after one record and its a while new lineup again.
