Former Mushroomhead frontman Jeffrey Hatrix, known to fans as Jeffrey Nothing, has clarified recent reports about his health, confirming that he is cancer-free following successful natural treatment.
In a statement shared after a Blabbermouth.net article summarized his recent Metal Nation interview, Hatrix emphasized that while he was diagnosed with cancer in late 2024, his most recent scans show no remaining signs of the disease. Hatrix wrote:
“I am not currently still battling cancer, I got a PET scan last July and they confirmed that the cancer is no longer there and that I’m in remission. I repeat: The cancer is gone. I do not still have cancer. The treatment worked.”
According to Hatrix, he publicly announced his remission in July 2025 but felt compelled to reiterate the update after some coverage failed to include that crucial detail. He continued:
“That is why I’m as adamant as I am that people should look into alternative treatments, the doctors told me that if I didn’t start chemo, I’d be dead in a year. That year has passed. I strongly believe that if I had listened to that, I’d be in the same place as my wife right now — not healthy, hiking every day, and returning to the stage next year.”
Hatrix has been open about choosing a fully natural approach to healing after losing his wife, Stacy, to cancer in April 2024. He credits his recovery to that same holistic path — which included a strict plant-based diet, herbal treatments, and regular sauna sessions — while rejecting conventional chemotherapy. He said:
“The track record for chemotherapy is not good. It’s not the only option, they get huge financial kickbacks for chemo and want to scare you into going that route. I only want people to understand that there are options and those options do work for people every day.”
In his new statement, Hatrix also expressed gratitude to fans who supported him throughout his treatment and recovery.
“Those were very trying years and the type of support I got from my fans was humbling and helped me through. I will be happy to say it to your faces when I see you out at the shows. Thank you.”
While much of the attention has focused on his health, Hatrix reminded fans that he’s been musically active. He recently recorded a guest track with another band and has live shows booked for 2026 — marking his return to the stage.
Hatrix first revealed his diagnosis in early 2024 and chronicled his alternative treatment regimen publicly, sharing updates through Facebook and GoFundMe. He’s since used his platform to advocate for natural healing methods and transparency in medical decision-making.
After departing Mushroomhead in 2018, Hatrix has continued to create music as Jeffrey Nothing, maintaining his signature dark aesthetic and theatrical style while also confronting deeply personal themes of loss, resilience, and rebirth.
Now cancer-free and focused on the future, Hatrix says he’s ready to return to what he loves most — making music and connecting with fans.
