Mushroomhead Co-Founder Jeffrey Nothing Says Lawsuit With Steve ‘Skinny’ Felton Has Been Settled

Former Mushroomhead vocalist Jeffrey “Nothing” Hatrix — a founding member who performed with the masked metal collective from 1993 through his departure in 2018 — has confirmed that his legal dispute with fellow co-founder Steve “Skinny” Felton has officially come to an end.

The conflict first became public in August 2024 when Hatrix filed a federal lawsuit against Felton and their shared business entity Filthy Hands Company. The suit centered on royalty payments tied to his contributions to the band’s catalog, with Hatrix asserting writing credits on more than one hundred Mushroomhead tracks.

Beyond the financial dispute, the filing alleged misconduct related to how funds were distributed, including claims of payments issued under alternate aliases and through third-party contractors. Hatrix sought monetary damages along with access to financial documentation tied to the matter as part of the legal action.

Taking to social media today (Feb. 9, 2026), Hatrix revealed that the dispute has now been resolved amicably, signaling a shift away from the tensions that previously surrounded the situation. He wrote:

“As a lot of you know, there has been an ongoing lawsuit between myself and my former band. I’m happy to report that the situation is settled and over.
From here out, there will be nothing negative about Mushroomhead or Skinny on my page. He came to the table amicably and honorably and we found a solution that made both of us happy.
Skinny and I founded Mushroomhead and it’s great to see the fanbase and community it has built. I’m proud of that and I know he is. Mushroomhead is his and I wish him the best. My creative baby is now my solo work. Will I ever work with Shroom again? Time will tell. I’m not against it. But I have no ill feelings either way. I want everybody to win.
Thank you all for your years of support and for having my back when it was needed, but from here on out it’s nothing but positivity in that direction. I said I was done with drama and I meant it. Love you guys!”

While details of the settlement were not disclosed, Hatrix’s statement suggests both parties reached a mutually agreeable resolution. His remarks also leave open the possibility — however uncertain — of future collaboration with the band he helped form, though he emphasized his current focus remains on his solo creative work.
