Belgian grindcore veterans Leng Tch’e have made their long-awaited return with “Hammered Into Collapse”, marking the band’s first new single in nearly a decade.
The track is one of two songs featured on the band’s forthcoming EP ‘Hammered Into Collapse’, with “Voided” rounding out the release. Season Of Mist will issue the two-track effort digitally on October 23.
The new material was recorded by Leng Tch’e with engineer Lander Cluyse at Hearse Studio, while Taylor Young of Twitching Tongues and God’s Hate handled the mixing duties.
The band describe “Hammered Into Collapse” as a song centered around the psychological consequences of years spent avoiding an inevitable reckoning, while “Voided” expands those themes into something far more catastrophic.
“‘Hammered Into Collapse’ was recorded at Hearse Studio with engineer Lander Cluyse, built around a single escalating idea: two decades of denial giving way, all at once, to what the lyrics call cerebral hijack.
Serge Kasongo’s words track a narrator who spent a lifetime avoiding a reckoning only to find it arrives anyway, swallowing and digesting the wasted time in real time. ‘Voided’ takes the same collapse and pushes it outward, past the individual and into something closer to apocalypse, spiralling from mental unravelling to total blackout, into the void.
Where the title track stays claustrophobic and internal, ‘Voided’ opens up until the personal and the cosmic blur together.”
A music video for “Hammered Into Collapse” has also arrived online, with Serch Carriere behind the camera for the newly released clip.
