Linkin Park have already returned to the studio to begin working on new material that could eventually become the follow-up to their 2024 comeback album, ‘From Zero’.
During a recent interview with NME, Linkin Park DJ Joe Hahn revealed that the band has been writing and experimenting with new music throughout and following their extensive touring cycle in support of ‘From Zero’. The group reportedly even made use of days off while on the road to continue working in the studio.
“Yeah, because we really enjoy being around each other, and we especially love the creation side of things and making music. When we were touring in different cities, if there was a day off, we would go into studios just to tinker around with stuff. And when we finished touring, we decided to take a month off because we needed a break, but then we jumped right back into the studio.”
The band has since been able to resume that creative process after taking some time away from the road. When asked whether those sessions could eventually result in another Linkin Park album, Hahn made it clear that more music is indeed being developed, though he offered a typically playful warning about what fans might hear.
“Oh, yeah… and it’s going to be really slow and boring, and very polarising to everyone [Laughs].”
There is no indication yet of when the follow-up to ‘From Zero’ could arrive, or exactly how far along the band is with the new material. For now, the group appears to be enjoying the opportunity to create without the immediate pressure of a release schedule.
The studio work follows a hugely successful touring run for ‘From Zero’. According to Billboard, the tour generated approximately $251 million in gross revenue from roughly 2.2 million tickets sold, making it the most successful tour of Linkin Park’s career.
The band is currently focused on the upcoming premiere of its new live film and documentary, which Hahn directed. The project combines the story of Linkin Park’s return following the 2017 death of vocalist Chester Bennington with concert footage captured during the band’s November 15, 2024 performance at Allianz Parque in São Paulo, Brazil.
The film is set to premiere on September 30, while its official soundtrack was released late last week.
