Linkin Park have added another major milestone to their catalog, with ‘Meteora’ officially earning diamond certification in the United States.
The RIAA awarded the 2003 sophomore album diamond status on October 5, meaning it has surpassed the equivalent of 10 million units in the U.S. The achievement makes ‘Meteora’ the band’s second diamond-certified album in the country, following ‘Hybrid Theory’.
Released in March 2003, ‘Meteora’ became one of Linkin Park’s defining albums, spawning singles including “Numb,” “Somewhere I Belong,” “Faint” and “Breaking The Habit.”
The certification adds to a remarkable run of milestones for the band. ‘Hybrid Theory’ first reached diamond status in January 2005 and was later certified 12x platinum in 2020. Meanwhile, “In The End” became Linkin Park’s third diamond-certified release overall when the single received the honor in February 2024.
The band’s commercial momentum has also continued following their 2024 return with ‘From Zero’. Their subsequent world tour became their highest-grossing tour to date, generating $251 million from approximately 2.2 million tickets sold, according to Billboard.
Linkin Park have also continued reaching streaming milestones, with “Bleed It Out” recently becoming the group’s ninth song to surpass one billion streams on Spotify. “Numb,” “Faint” and “Somewhere I Belong” are among the other tracks from ‘Meteora’ to reach that milestone.
