More than a decade after accidentally cementing themselves into internet and metalcore history, Live Without have reunited for an official collaboration with Denny’s.
The Texas metalcore band first went viral back on May 19, 2013, when footage surfaced online of the group performing inside a Denny’s restaurant shortly before the location closed down permanently. While the show itself was relatively small, the clip eventually exploded online and became one of heavy music’s most enduring memes thanks largely to vocalist Kris’ now-iconic opening line:
“What the fuck is up, Denny’s?”
Now, 13 years later, the band have resurfaced to help launch the diner chain’s new limited-time menu item, the “Mozz Pit Burger.”
The collaboration was unveiled in a newly released promotional video featuring the reunited group, with the burger itself leaning heavily into the chaotic energy associated with the original performance.
According to an official description, the burger includes a beef patty topped with American cheese and three mozzarella sticks covered in tomato sauce on a brioche bun.
Chris Bode, President and CEO of Denny’s, explained the inspiration behind the release:
“We’re inviting fans to stage-dive into this over-the-top burger. The Mozz Pit Burger celebrates the ‘no rules’ attitude that makes Denny’s so iconic and always open for whatever the day or night may bring.”
The Mozz Pit Burger will be available through June 2 at participating locations in Houston, Los Angeles and Miami.
The reunion may not end there either. In a social media post tied to the campaign, Denny’s teased the possibility of another live performance from the band, writing:
“if this music video gets 500k likes my boss said we can do a live show.”
