Lockslip have unveiled a new music video for their track “Vengeance (You’ll Never Be Seen By Your God)”, a confrontational piece centered around abuse, power, and accountability.
The mathy metallic hardcore outfit drew inspiration for the track from a personal connection to an abuse survivor and vocalist Sara G explained how that experience also led her to examine allegations and historical ties involving the Boy Scouts and the Catholic Church, particularly surrounding efforts to avoid accountability for abuse.
“A recurring theme throughout this album is one of consequences. This song was inspired by someone close to me who survived abuse while in the Boy Scouts. This led me to learn of the close connection between the Boy Scouts and the Catholic Church in their efforts to protect themselves against accountability. People in power, so-called righteous people, perpetrating heinous acts against those meant to trust them. Surely if their afterlife is real, they can’t escape judgement.”
“Vengeance (You’ll Never Be Seen By Your God)” comes from Lockslip’s forthcoming full-length ‘The Conversation’, which is scheduled to arrive on November 6th through Bleakhouse.
