The uncertainty surrounding Veil Of Maya has finally gained some clarity, though it might not be the news fans were hoping for. After months of speculation during the band’s ongoing hiatus, frontman Lucas Magyar has officially confirmed he is no longer with the group.
The revelation came via social media, where a fan questioned Magyar’s future with the band under a teaser for his new project, SIFYN. When asked if his involvement with SIFYN meant the end of Veil Of Maya, Magyar responded:
“If you do [see VOM again] it won’t be with me. I decided to part ways and focus on SIFYN.”

This exit follows a turbulent period for the progressive metalcore heavyweights:
- September 2024: The band shocked fans by announcing an indefinite hiatus and canceling all upcoming tour dates.
- Late 2024: Guitarist Marc Okubo joined Falling In Reverse as a touring guitarist.
- January 2025: Okubo broke the silence on the band’s future, tweeting: “When veil comes back it will be the heavy version.”
What’s Next?
Magyar’s departure marks the end of a decade-long era for the band. Joining in 2014, he helped pivot the group toward a more melodic, ‘Matriarch’-driven sound. Okubo’s recent comments about a “heavy” return suggest that the band may be looking to return to their technical deathcore roots or find a vocalist capable of a more aggressive delivery.
As of now, Veil Of Maya has not released an official statement regarding a search for a new vocalist.

Brandon era was best, TCMC was peak, but Veil was good with the next guy up to the most recent album. Mother wasn’t it for me but it had a couple okay parts. If Marc would ditch Falling in Reverse and come back to HIS band, there are surely many vocalists that can do it justice.

CMC was the album that hooked me and going a new direction was a risk but breathed new life. Lucas is incredibly talented and the 3 albums he’s on gave the band depth they did not have prior. I would love for Sumerian to reclaim its golden era of CMC, Rareform, and the New Reign, but it can’t and that’s what makes it special.
