Mammoth’s Wolfgang Van Halen Rick Rolls Fans During Cincinnati Show April Fool’s Surprise

Fans attending Mammoth’s April 1st performance in Cincinnati were treated to an unexpected — and humorous — onstage twist courtesy of frontman Wolfgang Van Halen.

During the show, Van Halen teased the crowd with commentary suggesting he might revisit material from Van Halen, the legendary band founded by his late father Eddie Van Halen — a group Wolfgang himself previously toured with as bassist. The setup led many in attendance to believe a nostalgic cover performance was about to unfold.

Instead, the band pivoted into one of the internet’s most famous pranks, launching into a partial performance of Rick Astley’s 1987 pop classic “Never Gonna Give You Up”, effectively Rick Rolling the audience in real time as part of an April Fool’s Day gag.

The lighthearted moment arrived as Mammoth near the end of their current North American run alongside 10 Years and James And The Cold Gun. The band will quickly return to the road next week, joining Bush for an additional stretch of tour dates across the United States.
