Swedish black metal veterans Marduk have paid tribute to former bassist Roger “B. War” Svensson, who has passed away at the age of 61.
Svensson performed with Marduk from 1992 to 2004, appearing during one of the band’s most influential eras. Following news of his passing, the band shared a heartfelt statement on July 4 honoring their longtime friend and former bandmate.
Marduk wrote:
“Comradeship Through Blood and Iron
It is with the deepest regret that we announce the passing of our former bass player, friend and comrade, Roger ‘Bogge’ Svensson (1965–2026), better known as B. War… The memories remain.

Beyond his tenure with Marduk, Svensson was involved with several other bands throughout his career, including Allegiance, Devils Whorehouse, and numerous other projects, leaving a lasting mark on the Swedish extreme metal scene.
