Marilyn Manson has officially released his twelfth studio album, One Assassination Under God – Chapter 1. This marks the controversial shock rocker’s first full-length effort since facing allegations of sexual assault and misconduct brought forth by over a dozen women several years ago.
Most of the claims involve incidents alleged to have occurred over a decade ago. While Manson has publicly denied the accusations, some civil lawsuits have been privately settled or dismissed. However, legal scrutiny persists. Last month, Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón revealed that the Sex Crimes Division is actively investigating “new leads and additional evidence” related to Manson, with several other cases still pending.
Despite the ongoing legal battles, Manson has been working to revive his music career this year. He returned to the stage for the first time in years and teased fans with several singles from the new album. To celebrate the release, he also dropped a music video for the title track, directed by Bill Yukich.
Manson shared this statement earlier today, November 22:
“‘One Assassination Under God – Chapter 1‘ is the first half of my story. These songs were conjured from purgatory, and are as raw as a row of broken teeth that slightly resemble a smile. My art is what I live for.
This album means to me exactly what I choose it to mean. I hope when you listen it is the same for you.”
