Shock rocker Marilyn Manson’s 2025 cover of Phil Collins’ iconic 1981 hit “In The Air Tonight” has been featured in a new commercial promoting the 2026 Dodge Charger. The selection of Manson’s rendition comes amid ongoing controversy surrounding the musician, who has faced multiple sexual assault lawsuits and allegations over the past several years.
In 2023, Manson settled lawsuits brought by Esmé Bianco and a Jane Doe. Another case from Ashley Morgan Smithline was later dropped. As of now, two additional legal matters remain active: one alleging incidents from the 1990s and a revived lawsuit filed by former assistant Ashley Walters. Manson continues to deny all allegations.
Previously, Manson filed a defamation suit against his ex-fiancée Evan Rachel Wood in 2022, claiming she orchestrated some of the accusations against him; the suit was dropped in 2024 after several setbacks. A four-year investigation by the Los Angeles County Sex Crimes Division concluded in 2025 without charges, with District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman stating that allegations of domestic violence were beyond the statute of limitations and sexual assault claims could not be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
Despite the legal resolutions, Manson has continued to encounter public pushback, including show cancellations in the UK due to political and local opposition. His cover’s inclusion in the Dodge commercial is likely to spark debate among audiences given his ongoing contentious history.
