A previously dismissed sexual assault lawsuit filed against Marilyn Manson (Brian Warner) by his former personal assistant Ashley Walters has been successfully revived following the passage of a new California law.
Walters initially filed her lawsuit in 2021, alleging that Manson subjected her to sexual harassment, sexual assault, sexual battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and violations of multiple California civil codes. The alleged incidents are said to have occurred between August 2010 and July 2011, during the period in which Walters was employed by Warner.
The case was first dismissed in May 2022, after a judge ruled that the claims were barred by the statute of limitations. Walters later appealed that decision in December 2023, but the lawsuit was again dismissed this past December. At that time, the court cited ongoing statute-of-limitations concerns and questioned whether delayed discovery — including claims involving repressed memories — could legally apply in her case.
That ruling has now been overturned due to California Assembly Bill 250, a law that went into effect in 2026. The legislation establishes a temporary revival window allowing adult survivors of alleged sexual assault to refile civil claims that were previously dismissed due to expired statutes of limitations.
Under the provisions of AB 250, Walters has been permitted to reinstate a narrowed version of her lawsuit. A follow-up hearing in the case is currently scheduled for March 27th.
In response to the lawsuit’s revival, Manson’s attorney Howard King issued a statement addressing the development:
“Ashley Walters has been given the right to pursue a narrow claim of sexual assault under the newly enacted law, a claim that will not survive the next motion for summary judgment. The undeniable fact is that Mr. Warner never committed any sexual assault.”
Marilyn Manson has consistently denied all allegations of sexual misconduct brought against him in recent years.

Manson’s case was dismissed only because of a technical statue of limitations.  This will be a real opportunity for him to clear his name
The case was (technically) dismissed, meaning he wasn’t ever found guilty…… but that also means he wasn’t found innocent.
He was never found guilty sure but he was never cleared. Because the details of the case have never been examined in public he never had an opportunity to truly clear his name so what an opportunity this might be!
Perhaps now the case and all of the details will get analyzed in front of experts and in public in front of a judge and Jury of his peers.
It’s good that this case will be heard in public so the world can examine the details in public. this will either clear his name or confirm him as a sex offender.

Also worth remembering there were several cases that were settled outside of court with victims as young as 16.

The same science, the same evidence the same process that it takes to establish guilt in a criminal court is the same science and process that is used to establish guilt in a civil court. The process and science are the same because the heinous act is the same.
Whether you process a case, criminally or civilly, the act is still the same. The person is still being accused of the same act, and the process of science to determine guilt is the same.
Sepsiss wrong. It is easier to convict in a civil case…which isn’t a problem for him because there is no evidence. It is just obvious someone is out for money at this point.
Respectfully, there are a couple of points for correction.
1) You don’t get ‘found’ innocent. The presumption is that you are innocent, unless the Claimant can prove their allegation(s), ordinarily on the balance of probabilities (although, of course this is nuanced). Accordingly, he, and others in a similar position, are innocent unless the opposite can be proven in legal proceedings. He therefore doesn’t really need to ‘clear’ his name, as it would be clear if people better understood legal proceedings.
2) It isn’t for the public to examine or otherwise decide a person’s guilt. That is precisely what has led to personalities killing themselves in the past (Caroline Flack comes to mind). It is for appropriately trained legal professionals (specifically, Judges) to do. Any conclusions coming from other sources should not be given weight or credence.
3) There would, in any event, be no need for a jury of any kind. The allegations made against him have been civil in nature. Juries are for criminal trials.
