The organizers behind Maryland Deathfest have unveiled the first batch of artists slated to appear at the festival’s 2027 edition, offering an early look at what is shaping up to be another massive gathering for extreme metal fans.
Set to take place May 27-30, 2027 in Baltimore, Maryland, the annual festival is expected to feature nearly 100 bands across its four-day run. The initial announcement blends death metal, black metal, doom, thrash, and progressive heavyweights from around the globe, with several acts planning exclusive or album-focused performances.
Among the biggest reveals are Swedish doom legends Candlemass, Norwegian progressive black metal pioneers Enslaved, Canadian sci-fi metal innovators Voivod, German technical death metal veterans Obscura, and New York thrash icons Demolition Hammer.
Several special performances have also been announced. Enslaved will perform their landmark debut album ‘Vikingligr Veldi’ in its entirety, while Akercocke will celebrate ‘Choronzon’ with a full album performance. Meanwhile, Exhumed will revisit their classic ‘Gore Metal’ album in full as part of a dedicated Gore Metal set.
