Rock and metal media legend Matt Pinfield is recovering after suffering a severe stroke on January 6th. Known for his extensive career in the music industry, including his time as an MTV host and his work with ‘Farmclub.com,’ Pinfield has been a fixture in the scene for years.
News of his health struggles first broke in late January, with reports revealing that his daughter had sought a temporary conservatorship over his accounts, expressing concerns over his girlfriend’s potential handling of his funds. Pinfield, 63, shared an update with The Hollywood Reporter, revealing that he had been discharged from the ICU after emerging from a coma in late February. He is currently at a rehabilitation center in the Los Angeles area, continuing his recovery journey.
Pinfield expressed his gratitude and determination, saying:
“Guys, I’m alive. I’m recovering and am going to come back swinging. I was unresponsive for two months. Friends were thinking they were coming to see me for the last time. The doctors never expected me to speak or walk again.”
He also thanked his daughter for her unwavering support, acknowledging, “She’s the one who saved my life. She protected me.” Pinfield fought off pneumonia during his recovery and was placed on a ventilator, further highlighting the severity of his condition.
In a sign of his resilience, Pinfield revealed that his trademark encyclopedic knowledge of music remained intact. He shared that he was able to quote lyrics from Procol Harum’s “A Whiter Shade of Pale” after regaining consciousness.
