Former Roommate Of Tera Wray Speaks Out In Support Of Matt Zane’s Unauthorized Wayne Static Documentary

Matt Zane has shared a new public statement from Jay’e Jones, the former roommate of Wayne Static’s widow Tera Wray Static, voicing support for Zane’s planned and unauthorized documentary focusing on the final years of the late couple’s lives. The statement arrives amid growing backlash from the families of Wayne Static and Tera Wray, who have publicly opposed the project.

Zane — known for fronting Society 1 and for his work in the adult film industry — claims the documentary was initiated at the direct request of Wayne Static and Tera Wray prior to their respective deaths. Despite objections from family members surfacing earlier this month, Zane has continued to push forward with the film, launching a crowdfunding campaign last week.

That effort was met with further resistance when Zane revealed he had received a cease and desist order from the families involved. On December 18th, he responded by sharing a lengthy statement from Jones, who says she feels obligated to honor what she describes as the expressed wishes of both Wayne and Tera.

In her statement, Jones recounts spending significant time with the couple during the final years of their lives, claiming they frequently discussed plans for a documentary to be made with Matt Zane. She alleges that following Wayne Static’s death, Tera Wray became even more committed to the project, safeguarding music files, recordings, and personal materials with the intent that they be used in the documentary.

Jones further states that after Tera Wray’s death, she turned over all of Wayne Static’s saved materials to his parents at their request, while also informing them of Wayne and Tera’s plans to collaborate with Zane on a documentary. According to Jones, she later agreed to participate in an earlier version of a documentary believing it aligned with the couple’s wishes, only to later discover that Zane was no longer involved and that the project had taken a different direction.

She concludes by asserting that Zane’s current documentary is, in her view, the only project that reflects Wayne Static and Tera Wray’s original intentions — telling their story through someone they trusted personally, rather than through what she characterizes as a reshaped narrative.

Despite the renewed attention, crowdfunding for the documentary has seen limited momentum. As of this writing, the campaign has reportedly raised $400 from four backers since launching on December 11th. A key point of controversy surrounding the film is Zane’s stated intent to incorporate six unreleased songs featuring Wayne Static’s vocals and songwriting contributions.
