Chicago-based experimental outfit meth. have released a statement addressing their recent removal from Dragged Into Sunlight’s upcoming spring U.S. tour. The decision, according to meth., stems from their past affiliation with Prosthetic Records—a label Dragged Into Sunlight previously had a public falling out with.
Dragged Into Sunlight‘s history with Prosthetic Records dates back over a decade, but their relationship soured significantly by 2019. At that time, the UK band publicly accused the label of financial mismanagement and fostering a hostile working environment. That rift appears to be at the center of meth.’s removal from the bill, despite the fact that meth. are no longer signed to the label.
meth. addressed the situation in full via social media:
“With apologies to our fans who bought tickets and were looking forward to seeing us support DIS on their U.S. tour—DIS have decided to remove us from the lineup solely because our last album was released through Prosthetic Records, a label they’ve had issues with.
Our album Shame came out on Prosthetic in February 2024. DIS’s manager was fully aware of this when they bypassed our booking agent and reached out to us directly with the offer. We confirmed the tour, submitted promo assets, and were officially announced over a month ago.
Why this suddenly became an issue now—when they were already aware of the situation—is beyond us. Especially considering we’re not even signed to the label anymore. This reeks of unprofessionalism and a lack of basic due diligence on the part of DIS and their team at Tone Management.
Financially, this has impacted us and we need all the support we can get to keep our upcoming European tour on track. If you’d like to help, you can visit our Hello Merch store.
We look forward to seeing everyone in Europe. At this time, there are no plans for a U.S. tour in the foreseeable future.”
As of now, Dragged Into Sunlight have not issued a public comment regarding the removal.
