Mike Patton Joins Forces With The Avett Brothers In New Project AVTT/PTTN, Debut Single “Eternal Love”

Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle) has unveiled yet another boundary-pushing project, this time teaming up with gold-certified folk/bluegrass rockers The Avett Brothers. The collaboration, dubbed AVTT/PTTN, finds Patton working alongside brothers Scott and Seth Avett, with their self-titled debut album set to arrive November 14th via Thirty Tigers, Ramseur Records, and Ipecac Recordings.

The group has introduced the project with their first single, “Eternal Love”, which you can stream below. Speaking about the unlikely pairing, Scott Avett reflected:

“This is what art is. This is what making is supposed to be: in secret and with no ambition.”

He went on to add that Patton’s influence has long been foundational to the brothers:

“He’s part of our DNA, like the fabric of our youth. Literally, we studied him. He’s a dear friend now, but when we were younger, I was imitating him.”

Mike Patton himself described his role in the project with trademark humor:

“My peculiar challenge in this was to become a long distant cousin. A brother that was orphaned. Maybe they kept him in the chicken coop or some shit. They brought him out years and years later.”
