A recent backstage reunion between two members of Faith No More has sparked fresh discussion about the band’s future.
Vocalist Mike Patton and drummer Mike Bordin were recently photographed together backstage during AVTT/PTTN’s May 8 performance at the Masonic Auditorium in San Francisco.
The appearance marks a notable moment given the uncertainty surrounding Faith No More in recent years following the cancelation of the band’s planned 2021 comeback tour. Patton later revealed he had been struggling with mental health issues during that period, while Bordin publicly admitted in 2025 that communication within the group had largely broken down after the tour collapse.
At the time, Bordin said it became clear Patton was physically unable to perform during rehearsals leading up to the tour, adding that the band unanimously agreed to cancel the dates in support of him. However, Bordin later admitted he felt the situation evolved from Patton being unable to continue into being unwilling to resume activity with Faith No More, noting there had been little direct communication between them afterward.
While there’s still no indication that the influential alternative metal outfit are actively working toward a reunion or new material, the recent meetup suggests tensions between the pair may have eased.
Patton has remained active in recent years through projects including Mr. Bungle and AVTT/PTTN, the latter featuring members of The Avett Brothers. Interestingly, recent AVTT/PTTN performances have also included live covers of Faith No More material.
